Don’t Limit Your Imagination

Never say never. Don’t quit the idea you have. Nurture it and let it grow. Start from somewhere.

I was on a plane from Moscow to Accra. I transited through Cairo and permit me to share with you something about what the human mind can do when you are determined to do it.

The Bible says that God created man in his image and likeness and he breathed in him His spirit. As Christ puts it succinctly, “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father”.

We got on the plane and as usual, the pilot announced all the measures to be taken as the plane was about to take off. The plane taxied on the runway and gradually increased its velocity and speed. It positioned itself while about to take off from the ground. In no time, we were already in the air.

I always sit at the window just to take a glance at the world especially the seas the oceans we hovered over while in the air. Sometimes it beats the imagination of the level of ingenuity and creativity displayed by man. That is, whatever we want to do, we can.

I always say that whatever thought comes to your mind, it’s possible. Don’t limit yourself.

Orville Wright and Wilbur Wright set out on the mission to make people fly in the air just like birds. I think they might have thought that it’s possible. I always tell people that whatever you think of, it means no matter how outrageous, ambitious, abstract or an out-of-the-world idea, so far as you’ve been able to think of it, then it’s possible.

The two Wright brothers began to build the aeroplane and it flew in the early 1900s.

As the plane was taxiing on the runway and speeding to rise slowly and gain its altitude and balance in the air, you would be wondering how is this even possible.

Since the Wright brothers made this incredible breakthrough, the mind of man has not stopped being innovative looking at the plethora of technological advancements over the years.

Never say never. Don’t quit the idea you have. Nurture it and let it grow. Start from somewhere. Life is supposed to be an enjoyable journey when you do things that please you, not please others. For all you know, people don’t even care about what you’re doing.

On the plane, the pilot announced that if there is an emergency, put on your life jacket or oxygen first before you help others. Not that it’s bad but if you’re not able to help yourself and love yourself, how can you transfer that love to another person?

Again, the world watched in awe while three billionaires competed to make space commercial so private citizens could have the opportunity to visit space. Richard Branson implored after he made it back from space that if he could land on Mars then nothing is impossible.

The difference between those who can quit their 9 am to 5 pm job or get out of the rat race is what you do during your spare time.

The height that men reached was not just by sudden flight but while their colleagues slept, they burnt the midnight candle. To wit, they worked and nurtured their dream while other people slept. And if they become rich, people always think it’s an overnight success. Well, people don’t want to learn about where people started from, but they just want to know where they are at the moment. In that case, you’d have missed so many valuable lessons from the person.

Final thoughts

Life is not about competing with others, it’s about competing with yourself no matter how slow you think it is. Don’t give up, never quit, work on your dream and one day you’d be proud of yourself that you made it despite all odds.
