You are wondering why you’re not making a return on your investments as an online seller. Maybe you’re doing some of the points discussed below. STOP immediately if you are doing them and you’d see a boost in your customer base and your revenue will soar.

1. Don’t neglect to add value to every customers’ experience

A simple thank you to your customer can go a long way to leave a lasting impression on him or her. The customer feels valued that you have even thanked him for buying your product. Sometimes, you can also add a small gift to the product he or she buys. This is very good during occasions like Easter, Christmas, and other important festivities.

2. Don’t ignore detailed product description

You are advertising your product and so customers need not be in the dark about what your product is. They need to get all the answers about the product while they read the description, thus, you need to provide a detailed explanation of your product so that they can make an informed decision about whether to buy or not. Scanty information should be avoided.

3. Don’t forget to create a user-friendly environment

You might not be a very good graphic designer or a programmer but make sure that your technical team makes the website as friendly as possible for easy navigation on the website. Keep it simple but nice. Making it complicated might be difficult for easy and smooth navigation.

4. Don’t cheat your customers

Customers are the backbone of your business. They are the reason you are selling your products. One dissatisfied customer can ruin your business because he or she can tell other customers about your cheating behaviour and before you know it, all your customers will move to your competitor and eventually, abandon you. Don’t cheat!

5. Don’t post different prices

Prices that you post only should be what the customer pays and not any additional hidden fees. Honesty is the best policy. Reveal any additional charge you want the customer to pay and if he still wants to buy, trust me, he or she will. But if you trick the person into buying your product with an additional fee without the customer’s knowledge. You’d lose your integrity and your customer won’t trust you again.

6. Don’t show products that are not in stock

Products not in stock are to be removed from your category. Only post products you have in stock. A customer who visits your page and orders for a product he or she likes and realizes that the product you advertised isn’t on the list anymore, the customer becomes disappointed and may not visit your social media page or website anymore.

Constantly update your website or page with the products you have. Take inventory always.

7. Don’t ignore customer questions

Customers always want to find out whether a particular product will fit their purpose. And so, they might want to get additional information on that. Don’t ignore their questions. Take negative comments or reviews in good faith and improve upon that. Ignoring them will be at your own disservice. A loyal customer will always want to know more about your product or will like you to take note of certain things you think it’s not important.

8. Don’t delay the delivery of your product

Customers are time conscious. Time is of the essence. Deliver the goods on time and at the appropriate address. In case of any delay in the delivery, communicate with the buyer as early as possible and that builds trust. Don’t cultivate the habit of excuses or else you may lose customers.

9. Don’t give up on your goals

Don’t forget the primary aim of selling online. It might be tough at the beginning but be consistent and persistent. Love it. Be passionate about it. It will pay off in the end.

These tips will help you to boost your revenue as an online seller. You must understand that it takes time, energy and effort coupled with consistency to outsmart the competition. Make sure that you keep these DON’TS in your diary and when you follow them, you’ll be on your way to becoming your boss.
